Buffleheads......

Anybody out there specfically target buffleheads? Trying to gain some incite on them so I can go after some this fall. I seen a few around while hunting but never can get them to come close enough.

I'll shoot them if they come into rhe decoys but I don't go out hunting for them specifically. I had a group of about a dozen that kept coming back and landing in the decoys after I shot. I filled out with the first set of shots so I was done...but they were stil siting in the decoys. Not very much meet on them.

We usually get a few mixed in with our diver bag. I even made up a half dozen bufflehead decoys, just a little variety for the diver spread. I've got an awesome drake buffie on the wall, they make a real nice mount.

I would love to get a nice drake for the wall. It's been a goal of mine for a few years now. But we don't get too many coming through my area (East Central MN).

Oh contrare...I see some every year around the St. Croix..and Snake rivers.

We shoot quite a few here off of the great lake. I painted 6 small bills into butterballs. They work great set up off to the side in a really tight group. Those black-n-whites drop right into the 6 dekes. like mention before, they love to keep coming back. I've learned to reload quick if a few leave. Because they be back. Cant wait, a week to go.
