On Board Battery Charger Question

I have a Pro Mariner(?) on board charger. It says that there is a one time selector for either Lead Acid or Gel Cell. Is there a way around this? I used it for Lead Acid the last couple of years and I'm thinking about changing over to Gel Cells and would prefer not to have to buy a new charger too.

Surf Mariner's HSOforum. Is yours an Alltech model? It shows dip switches that can be set for lead acid or gel cell.

If I remember correctly, there is a wire loop that sticks out on the front of the charger that gets cut to make the “selection”. If you did it right, there would be no reason you could not solder it back together if you went back to lead acid.
