'73 Johnson 25HP -Whats it worth?

I am not trying to sell this motor here, just looking for some opinions. If I decide to sell it I will post it in the proper forum.

It is a short shaft in good running condition, had it out last week.

I've bought and sold them anywhere from $150-$300.

If the lower unit seals are good , compression checks OK, runs good and not beat up then you could start out at $400(top dollar IMO) and go from there.

I've been looking for a larger motor than what you have and have been watching HSOList all summer. If it's in good shape I wouldn't be surprised to see it sell on HSOList for $500 or so. I know I can't find a 35-50hp ls controls for under $1000.

I doubt it will be that high on hsolist, you have to check actual bid on last day or last hours of auction. Many people asks a fortune and they don't sell.

I just bought a 40hp Yamaha late 80's for $ 275.00

Of course shipping is the killer.

I agree with ST for a good running 25hp early 70s.
