I was out running the dogs in the woods last week and had two grouse pointed in about an hour. One was an adult and I think one was a juvenile. There were also a couple woodcock finds. The dogs started to slow down after about 90 minutes in the woods so we decided to head home. But that means there are at least two out there somewhere! Come on frost!!!!!

That is good news. I've read some anecdotal reports on other msg boards that seem to indicate there may be a few more grouse in the woods this year than there were last year. Maybe a good hatch was pulled off in the spring.

I should be getting the pup back just about the time the leaves start hitting the ground. It's gonna be a long month.
