Gas line question

Paul Waldowski

Question

How do I go about hooking up a gas line for a kicker motor. Looking at hooking up a 9.9 kicker and I'm wondering if I just have to splice into the main gas line?? Do I just have to install a T? Do I install it before or after the primer bulb for the main motor???? Help smile.gif

S.T. where are you?? smile.gif

Paul, I take it you want to share the inboard take with the kicker and main engine. I believe your main engine is either oil injected or a 4 stroke so your using straight gas in the tank. Your kicker will have to be oil infected or a 4 stroke then.

If all you did was put in a T, which ever engine is running will start to pull gas from the others gas line. Once is pulls all the gas from the carb it'll start to suck air.

The best thing to do is mount a valve on your splash well before the primer bulb. Then you'll have to option of shutting the fuel completely off to both engines or which every your not going to be running. Thats pretty much the same setup you'd have if you had 2 inboard gas tanks.

I'll bet theres an other way to do it with check valves in the gas line but that would be more prone to failure.
