Tyler Holm
How do you bring along your scented plastics on each fishing trip? I have so much tackle that if I brought it all at one time, I’m confident I would sink my boat. I’m sure we all have the problem. I have to just limit myself and grab the stuff needed for the species of fish I plan on targeting. It often times limits me on the water, but that’s life. For instance, if I am going pan fishing I usually don’t bring many of my larger rapalas, spoons, jigs, etc. I simply can’t bring all my goodies on every trip.In the past year or so, I have added another fairly bulky (but lightweight) item to my fishing arsenal… Scented plastics (Power Bait, Gulp, Exude, etc). Since these need to remain in the original package or some sort of zip-locked (airtight) container/bag, they really start to get bulky when you have 20-30+ packages. What is your preferred method of carrying your scented plastics to your boat or favorite fishing hole?I am aware that they make containers/boxes/bags that work nice. Most of these even have zip-locked bag installed inside of them. Are these the best solution? I have one that holds 15 bags, but it’s full and I have enough to just about fill another. What’s your remedy?
mnsnowdaboy
I also hate the smell of scented plastics, but they work great for me. Especially for large mouths, but man evertime I accidently open the bag, it smells horrible.I now just use a zip lock back over the original bag. Northlander
I have the soft sided pouches and they seem to do ok as long as not over filled. I also have a big deep plano box that I use. Usually use it for storage and just carry 1 or 2 soft sided pouches, they are lighter than trying to carry it all in planos in the boat all the time. Bobby Bass
First off I don't really think you need to bring 30 bags of different worms/grubs with you, but if you do the small zip lock snack bags work well, no need to pack the larger bags and you can just take what you need. I pack in the small bags and then put them in a clear plastic hard box. Going more and more to the small plastic boxes. Worms, jigs, topwaters... and then just take the boxes that are needed for that outing. Hate to see the old boxes sitting empty at home but the old tackles boxes are just so bulky. I know I have a ton of plastic worms but as time goes by I am down to maybe 5-6 colors that I use so no need for 10 of everything. Was not that long ago where I would bag everything and then put them all in a plastic dog bone container and haul that around..
delmuts
i'm in the same boat as bob. i have reducede all of the plastics that i don't use( gave them to a bunch of kids ! they thought they had a gold mine) i have a carry worm bag that has inside pouches for jigs and such( that i don't use) and took out the big plastic bags. so now i use it like a duffle bag for most of my plastics. quick to grab , and easy to store.
