ps70mlf
Has any one here ever slept in a clam sleeper? I just bought a used one for $200. I coulnt pass that deal up. Im wondering how save they are to sleep into though, what kind of heater would work the best?
PierBridge
Good deal if it's in decent shape, heavy sucker though with that rubber floor. The heater is a BIG concern with sleeping in any portable if it's cold you will need a good size heater sunflowers are dangerous and not recommended maybe the Big Buddy might work that way if it tips over or your oxygen runs low it will shut off, or you could get a heater that vents to the outside with a pipe and secure the heater to the floor. Either way you will want to keep your propane tank outside and run a hose into the Clam sleeper. I have slept in my clam 6800 with just a regular Buddy but if it were cold I doubt if that would be enough to stay warm.
irvingdog
We're ice fishermen, not wimps! People sleep in unheated tents all winter long. A heat buddy, cot, and a high quality, properly rated sleeping bag will always do the trick.
deadeye
I have slept in my regular clam many times with a small mr. heater/cooker. I would say be careful to not get the shelter too airtight, and you should be ok. The buddy heaters might work, but it is a big house and that might be a tall order for that heater to keep you warm. It is the safest bet though and if you are warm blooded it would work.deadeye><>

I'll also add that a heater with a low oxygen shut off and a battery operated CO detector go a long way in preventing a permanent nap. Play it safe and you should be alright...
