wallydiver
I'm sticking with my LX-3 because I like the colors. That, and the fact that it's more than enough flasher for me.
CNY Tim
The 160' max depth remains the same... No changes there. The new units are projected to be on the street by mid October. I am already being bombarded by FL-18 users ready to make the move. MarCum's new TC color change has been a significant factor, zoom features, and last but not least the 20/8 deg. transducer upgrade with the new LX-5. Most are impressed with the fact that the LX-2 will have zoom features at a non-zoom price. That's huge!I venture LX-2 sales will flourish. Reason being is it's an inexpensive way to have zoom features at a bare bones price. What am I to do with two perfectly well running LX-3's??? Nothing at the moment. But I would probably go with the LX-3tc because I stand behind the LX-3. The LX-3 has provided me years of satisfaction, dependability and helped me catch alot of fish. The LX-3 is undoubtably the finest ice fishing flasher I have ever used and in my opinion the cream of the crop now. MarCum has and will continually blow me away with there technological advancements. With the addition of this new fall line-up and the quality and performance of the corner stone LX-3. MarCum has indeed taken the bull by the horns and the customer is better off for it. I am going to be very busy this winter and that's a very good thing. The competition refuses to do anything to win there faithful back??? and 98% of new MarCum LX-3 users did not want there FL-18 back, enough said....Lead, follow, or get out of the way! wallydiver
The LX-3 just has the 8 degree transducer, right? Does Marcum have a 20 degree cone that would plug in to the back of the unit, swapping it out with the 8 degree cone?
tashit
The LX-3 comes with a 20 degree transducer. That would be nice to be able to buy an 8 degree as well though.

Pete Riola
ta[PoorWordUsage] I think you'll be looking at the LX5 to retail at $479.00.
Jarrod32
To me, the competition is the great thing here. With two (three, actually, including Lowrance) very good companies making very good products, there is the competition between them to continue to improve their units...quality-wise and price-wise. Ultimately, the ice-fishing consumer wins. And, we fishermen get a choice. MarCum, Vex, or Lowrance...all will read depth, all will mark fish, all will help catch fish, all have different features...we are free to select the unit that best suits our personal preferences. Again, the ice-fishing consumer wins. It doesn't matter what your preference (Vex or MarCum) is. With three major players in the market (I will not easily dismiss Lowrance...they have a long history of good quality and innovative products), we can expect continued good things for the future of this great sport. Jarrod32
So how did your fishing tourneys go, Matt?
Matt Johnson
We won't talk about it We didn't do as well as we would have liked. We managed to catch a lot of fish, just not many big ones. A nice weekend to be on the water though, and camping in a tent was very comfortable! A fun time none the less. I went and watched The Dukes of Hazzard with Laurie and her son Mike (my cousin) in Wadena on Friday night. We had a good time. She mentioned you, and she said that your wife and her are into fabrics and things. Said she always runs into your wife at work. I sure saw a lot of Lund boats in Wadena, must have something to do with one of the neighboring towns? Good Fishin, Matt Johnson
waskawood
Has anyone heard if Marcum is making any changes to the OSV-560 camera?
Jarrod32
Yeah...Lund is king around here. A lot of people around here work (or at least used to, before the layoffs) for Lund. Let me make a quick point of clarification...the wife is indeed into sewing and crafts and such...but I am not (though I did once sew a button back onto a shirt with 10-pound mono). What was your mystery lake?
Blaze
Now that Matt & Jarrod have finished their social hour, can we get back on track here? Just kidding... Tim - can you talk a bit more about differences between the new LX-2 and the current LX-3? Is the only difference going to be locked zoom on the LX-2 (bottom 5/10 ft) -vs- moveable zoom on the LX-3? Also, what's the LX-2 gonna be priced at? Thanks.
CNY Tim
Blaze - Sure, the LX-2 is not adjustable other than the 5' or 10' zoom off the bottom button which ever you press on the powerhead. My question to MarCum was more tailored to what I do in "hole hopping" since I like to drill alot a holes and move around in zoom mode I wanted to see if the zoom locked in when fishing flats naturally. You know staying with the LX-3 "less adjusting theme" and here is MarCum's response. The LX-2 may have to be re-set (turn off and on) to zoom when hole jumping. However, our tests last March showed that it didn't have to be. It seemed to hold from hole to hole. I just don't want to make that a firm statement. It wasn't designed with that purpose in mind.It looks like it will hold most of the time if you like to hole hop in zoom.As far as I know the price will be around $319...That's zoom features for $80 less than the competition with an unpadded softpack, 20 deg. ducer, battery and charger. It's about time someone offered zoom at a better price.
Pete Riola
Gents...the LX2 has 1000 watts of power. And I do believe it will sell for $319.00. As I understand it more power equates to better IR. The LX3 has 1500 watts so does the LX3tc. The 560 I believe will remain the same product. Steve I believe the new units have an 8 foot ducer cord...I'll double check these would be facts. Blaze
Is the LX-2 going to be yellow/red/green? I do like the separate color combo, though ANY color will be better than my Clearwater Clasic! HAH! If not, it's a no-brainer on the LX-3/LX-2 decision...
Pete Riola
I'll double check that all new models are red, yellow, green. I know the LX5 and the LX3tc are red, yellow green.
CNY Tim
Blaze just to follow-up on your question... LX-2 will have the same colors as the LX-3TC and LX-5.Yellow - weakGreen - moderateRed - strongAll falline LX models come standard with 8' of transducer cord.MarCum is looking into the possibility of offering a couple of options for purchase like an 8 deg. transducer that can be purchased for the LX-3 also there looking into offering a TC upgrade for purchase on existing LX-3's. If I hear anything further on these I will let you know. You can see a pic of the new color package by clicking on the link below my name... Blaze
Thanks, Tim. I just ordered my LX-3. 3 clams for that baby was a sweet deal and I figured I better grab one before they're gone. Keep us posted on the 3 color upgrade if it does come out as a separate product.
MN
I was going to purchase the LX-3 this year and now from a feature/price standpoint I am considering the LX-2. What will I notice with the 1500 vs. the 1000 watt difference?I am coming from a Clearwater Classic - so I assume no big deal for me...Thanks,MN
