Eastern purple finch females have very distinct contrast to the streaking on their faces, while house finch females are much more monotonous. This has been both my experience and what Sibley shows. I am not below being wrong guys, and if I am, I'll be the first to admit it. I have been doing photography for 10 years, but I am relatively new to birding.
