trailer winch??

anchor man

Question

Recently I realized that the trailer I purchased with the boat this year has a 1500lb winch on it. The boat 1700 Lund Fish alone weighs about 1300 and the F150 engine is about 470. Should I be concerned that the total weight not including gear and fuel is almost 1800lbs on a 1500lb winch?? This is how is came from the dealer so I'd hope it's not an issue

Thanks

No expert here but i would assume that you will winch the boat while still in the water, therefore making the actual load on the winch much less than 1500 lbs. And if you are on rollers, all the better.

as long as it works don't worry about it. as the guys said you ar not dragging the full weight of the boat and once the winch is locked it doesn't matter. if it does go bad.( as one of mine did) then step up to a more heavy unit .
