Will try Gene... I wish we could rent your Zambrano for the playofs he's just nasty and he can hit too, stand-up triple in the win they had yesterday against the Marlins. It was fun watching the big man chug around the bases.

When his emotions are under control, Zambrano is as tough as they come. They better keep him around for awhile. They are really paying for it this year by letting Clement go.

Looks like Maddux's streak of 15W seasons will end this year. Heard his option is for $9Mill. I don't think he will retire with that kind of paycheck, not to mention he can still pitch as good or better than many guys much younger than him. Hey, look at Moyer yesterday. He's up there in age and took care of that light hitting SSide team of ours. (Moyer is an ex-Cub you know).

David Eckstein had a big night 4-5 with a triple, and 3 rbi's "with 2 outs each time" at the plate and Larry Walker goes yard for a Cardinal 6-1 victory over the Marlins. Chris Carpenter has been nothing short of dominant as he outdueled a wild AJ Burnett.. Congratulations Chris on your 19th win and moving the magic number down to 17. 6-2 on the road trip thus far with 5 games to go.... "That's a winner!"

I heard the local sports guys here in Minnesota saying that the top four teams in the AL are stronger than the best in the NL (Cardinals) this year. What are your thoughts?? I beleive he was talking about Boston, Chicago WS, Oakland and Anaheim.

I think the Yankees should be in that mix as well. I guess well wait to see how this plays out in the post season. The difference between the cardinals this year and last year is the strength of there starting staff and will it be enough to get em a ring... Who knows? Edmonds and Pujols haven't been lighting it up lately but there still winning. If they don't win it this year it will be more of a dissappointment than last year. I don't know why the announcer said what he said every power ranking I have seen has the Cards #1 but it is the regular season and the playoffs are a different animal. I like there chances more so this year than last...

I was a huge fan of Mark McGwire as I met him in Mpls at the Loon cafe when he was playing ball with Oakland. He was a classy dude that took the time to shake my hand and chat for a few minutes. So therefore when he was playing with St. Louis I was pulling for the redbirds to do well... I guess they are still my 2nd favorite team behind the hometown Twins.

Don't know if LaRuss made the right call in running Morris back out in the 8th with a one run lead. The Cards made it interesting coming back from 4 down to tie with Grudz's 3 run shot. Opportunities missed early by the Cards with bases loaded killed them. I still think we have issues with Ray King. You got Delgado 0-2 and then you serve something fat and a 2 run triple later there goes the 5-4 lead. Hitters are batting like .400 when King has two strikes on them. He's got the stuff it's just mental with him. Mabry made it interesting with a solo shot in the 9th to get us within 1 but to little to late. Looks like Reggie Sanders will make an appearance in the up coming homestand after the last series of this long road trip to Houston for 3 beginning Friday. Magic number remains at 17.

Buzz - I loved Mark McGuire prior to this steroid stuff. I can't believe on the radio shows up here that fan's think Giambi is a candidate for comeback player of the year, these Yankee fans make me sick. I guess Raphy needed some ear plugs yesterday in Toronto. LOL

So far this afternoon, through nine innings, the Twins have no runs on 13 hits. That's THIRTEEN - as in, more than a dozen - hits. It's probably a good thing that I'm not able to watch the game, or I might have had a heart attack by now.

Vargas had yet to give up a home run since his major league debut for the Marlins but that changed quickly the 2nd time David Eckstein came through the batting order. Jeff "Soup" Suppan pitched a good game alot of pitches but only allowed two hits and 5 shut out innings. Hector Luna was huge and Albert was just being Albert. Cards get an off day today, there 7-3 on this road trip but the end is in sight with a stop at Houston this weekend. Magic number is 16... "That's a winner"
