Mr.Seaguar
Pheasant numbers will be fine. Many first hatch birds made it but also the second hatch had a long dry spell so that hatch did good as well. Hunting should be good again. Last winter left many holdovers so there will be young and long spur birds around.
Blaze
The number of chicks in SD is OK, but nothing tremendous. Heck, the overall population of SD isn't very large either. There are chicks to be found from what I hear - if you're lookin' for them you should focus on areas such as shopping centers and restaurants/bars. During the spring rains, they were pushed into the shoe-store and home decorating areas, with a steady supply holding in grocery stores as well. I've also heard there's a good concentration of chicks in western SD around the Sturgis area in August each year, though you may want to think twice about those whose tails are easily visible. Sorry, I couldn't leave that one alone...
rundrave
blaze your forgetting one thing, most people dont realize we even have shopping centers and malls here in South Dakota...haha as far as pheasants, the numbers wont be record numbers like a few years ago, but still above average and by far great hunting to be had, I cannot wait. Mr.Seaguar
Forget malls in SD. And those chicks in Sturgis send you home with a gift you never wanted . Platte. Platte has the best looking chicks. I could move there just for the scenery. Good fishing and beautiful view every evening around town.
NWBuck
Yeah, but it can bit a little tougher to crack the shells of those fine Dutch chicks around Platte
