AnglerJake
I am looking for a lake with cabin rentals and good walleye and perch fishing to bring my family to next year, probably in August. I only hava a 14' boat so would prefer smaller lake. We used to go to Pike Lake near Grand Marais and really like that area. Any information that you could send would be appreciated. Thanks! gunflint
Come on up the trail farther. The mid-trail lakes are perfect for a 14 foot boat. Good walleye fishing, not much in the way of perch though.

Northlander
Gunflint can you e-mail me some lakes up your way that are doing well for eyes. Im supposed to go to Northern Lights Aug 7th but I heard the bite has been real bad. Have you heard anything? I will also need a place with a nice cabin on the lake for my wife to enjoy while she reads. By the way I have a 17' Lund Explorer with 115 yamaha. Is it too big for a lot of the lakes or will it be ok? [email protected]
toonfish
My wife has a cabin on Clearwater and we are heading up in the next couple of weeks....never fished it....DNR shows smallies, but no walleye pop to speak of....I am fine going for smallies and it is fun for the kids....is Clearwater decent for smallies? I fish Prior Lake in the cities for bass about 2 times a week....I am guessing my tackle will suffice, but what is the smallie lure/rig of choice in this area....like anyone else I love topwaters, how are they going to do? gunflint
Clearwater does have smallies but not to many people fish it for them. Clearwater is a good lake trout lake and has some real monsters in it. I would recommend bringing a depth finder (to find the humps) and picking up some frozen ciscos and go after the lake trout.
