Lunker
I know this is a little late, but I was sortin through some pics when I realized I never reported to FM on my Hawaii trip. My girlfriends family were nice enough to bring me along on their spring break trip to Hawaii, and I was more than happy to go since I had no other plans. My one request, I must go fishing! Well, we were out there for 6 hours with one other couple, and of course the only two fish caught were by the ladies, of course. Both caught nice Mahi Mahi's(dolphin). But as the guide put it(he's pictured holding the fish that my girl wants nothing to do with), if the women catch fish when you go the first time, then they will want to go again, so you benefit. Well put. It was a fun day on the water, learned a lot about the local fishing and history, and saw lots of neat stuff. Only bad part was when the guide took a hook through the forearm that a fish shook onto him while he gaffed. The hook was about the thickness of a pencil, and the size of the gaffs Minnesotans use for ice fishing practically, and he had to push it all the way through the meaty part of the arm and the other guide cut it off. He mentioned that he would skip the next shift to go get a tetnis shot but fished the remainder of the day with us. Devoted! If anyone goes, I would recommend fishing in Hawaii even though I caught nothing. The summer months are supposed to be best. I would also say go sea kayaking/snorkeling. Saw some amazing fish, eels, turtles, and whales! Hope the pic worked!
Jeff S
I'm going to Hawaii on my honeymoon in about a month. I can't wait! I booked a fishing charter as soon as we decided we were going there. I got in a little trouble as I booked the charter boat before we had a place to stay or our airline tickets. The wife-to-be is very happy though. I booked a full day charter with Capt. Norm Issacs of ESPN fame (Big Game Fishing the World) I can't wait!!!
ZOKU
I'm actually originally from Hawaii... grew up on the Big Island outside of Hilo. I'm heading back there for my honeymoon in September!! BTW, nice Mahi Mahi!
buzzsaw
I spent two weeks on Oahu about seven years ago and absolutely loved it! We toured the island and saw about every cool thing there was to see! I especially recommend Hanauma Bay and getting away from the downtown tourist area of Waikiki... too many people go to Oahu and stay in town... bad choice, get away... go to the north shore, fly over to Oahu or Kauai for some real good sight seeing! I wish I would have deep sea fished when I was there! arghhhh..Great picture of the Mahi Mahi!! I got one in cancun and that thing losses its pretty colors soooo fast... if anybody else on this site goes deep sea fishing and lands one, make sure you have the guide snap a picture right away because if you keep the fish and throw it in the holding tank it will be white very soon. We should have a deep sea fishing thread eh?
Lunker
We were staying on Maui, and it was a blast. I definitley plan to go back...when I can afford it. Yes, they do lose their color fast, the one pictured actually had just come out of the water, so the pale part was already there when caught, but it lost color fast after being in the ice box. Hope all of you planning a trip have fun and catch more then I did!

What a blast! We caught fish all day long. I am going to go see them again when we return.
