prop type ? and source ?

How do you determine what prop to use on a new outboard on a new (ly rebuilt) pontoon boat? Ideally I'd test several on the boat, but will most places let you do that? Assuming they even have the props in stock?

Also, I remember seeing some information about websites for ordering props, but can't locate them in a search. I'm not sure what to expect to pay for a prop for a 40hp evinrude on a pontoon.

Fishingeek, I agree, Contact Jay Soderbloom. I have a 24' pontoon with a 35 hp Jonny and after I followed Jays' suggestion on prop pitch/diameter, the "barge" performs TOTALLY different. It actually cruises!! (I went from a 10.5x13 to a 11x9.)
