Snowplow/Suburban Question??

I am thinking of putting a snow plow on my Yukon XL. I have the 1500 series and am being told it is too light for a plow. I want to use this plow to do my own personal work - not commercially. I have seen other Yukon XL's on the road with plows. Your opinions please!

Your going to need a front end lift or air bags to keep from breaking down your suspension. Plus your frame is pretty light for pushing snow with it.. You can do it but it will be a lot harder on your equipment. I started with a 1/2 ton and had to move up to a 3/4 ton. If you do it, make sure you always plow in 4 low. Your tranny will heat up real quick if you dont.

My brother-in-law has an old beater truck with a blade. He only runs it in the winter and may be looking to sell for not too much.

I run a fair sized snow plowing bussiness and I started with only one truck. GMC 1500 ext. cab with a 7 1/2 foot boss. If its for your own driveway I dont see a problem with it just remember its a lighter duty truck so take it easy on it dont try to move to much snow at once. I still have my 1/2 ton and its been 5 years now with nothing gone wrong. Maybe an alternator I think. It sees some com. work but I try to keep it for drivewasy only. Chevy also has a week front end so dont go larger than 7 1/2 foot either. Save yourself a few bucks and go with a light duty 7 1/2. 4x4 low is a good idea but I never use it. Change your fluids more often too. Hope this helps if you decide against it you could hire us lol. Alot cheeper than the plow lol. good luck hope I helped.

Check out one of those smaller lightweight utility plows if you're only doing personal work with it.
