warm front vs cold front

Could someone explain if a warm front does to fish the same as a cold front? I've been hearing about warm fronts on the news lately, but I don't know if it has the same affect on fish as a cold front. Does a warm front drive them deep? Does the bite shutdown?

I agree with Deitz and this weekend proved it for me. Anytime you can be on the water go. You never know what is going to happen or when the fish decide to turn on. Saturday I was on Vermillion in a bass tournament. We were pounding one shoreline where we picked up a few smallies. After going up and down that a couple of times it got dry. So we tried a few different spots and with an hour left felt our best spot to go catch our last fish was at the place we recently left. It had deep water and a nice rocky shoreline. Well when we got there the wind just switched 90 degrees which is a sign of a front. The wind was now banging into the shorelline and we caught our last smallie and even were able to make an upgrade on a couple of fish. On a side note I was fishing for bass Sunday by myself. I was working the rice with a scum frog and was able to land a 48-49" muskie. Now you tell be when is the best time to go fishing during a cold or warm front? I am sure I am not the only sportsman that feels this but many times when we plan trips the weather decides to change for the worse throwing us for a loop. Try to make the best of it and enjoy it. You never know what will happen.

I agree, go when you can!

I think that a warm front will also put those fish a little deeper and drive them farther back into the thick cover or way back under docks, where its cooler.

If the fishing is tough because of a front, whether it be cold or warm, I always still go into the day with a positvie mindset(besides, you are fishing! wink.gif). Tell yourself to bare down because you may only get a few bites that day, so you better make them count. Also those days that you may have thought were going to be tough, could turn into an unexpected great day.
