I don't want to jinks us now...but how great is this rain! South Dakota has been dry for the last 4 years. I have witnessed several sloughs dry up along with dry creek beds and lakes at record low levels. I drove past my old duck slough (which was dry one year ago) and to my suprise it is plum full! It is so nice to see things fill up again.

I am still in the fishing mode, but every time it rains I can't help to think about the wetlands.

You can have all the rain, Rost. smirk.gif

Water levels are too high and I'm still trying to locate 5 lost duck houses that fell victim from huge uprooted, floating bogs. Not to mention all the rice that won't grow due to high water and the bogs uprooting all the underwater plants in their path with every different wind movement. mad.gif

I would rather have more than less water. Mallards (major nesting 'fowl in Minnesota) are agressive 2nd and 3rd nesters, they will nest again if they were flooded out. I'm still seeing many drakes chasing around hens. Things in South Dakota were dry last fall and really dry this spring. The recent rains are a good thing for all waterfowl.
