Espn article featuring Twins Pitching

The really cool thing about this is, with maybe the exception of Santana, none of these guys are going to go to the all star game. They take the team approach and don't worry about individual stats. Ok, maybe they think about them, but they don't let it show.

No superstars, just good ballers. That my friends is why I'm a Twins fan.

its seems like even with the few walks we do make, they come back to bite us, with santana the other day, I know he was having issues with the ump etc and the strike zone changing(not to make excuses) but after he walked the 2 guys, it was pretty painfull to see the bases emptied after that double.

sometimes I wonder if they are thinking too much about getting a walk, and leaving balls over the plate that shouldnt be, just to throw strikes

It is still too early to write the Twins off, all-star break isnt here yet. About 2-3 weeks after the all-star break and they are still 7 games behind then I will begin to worry. Did anyone read the paper this morning about Terry Ryan looking for a power hitter?? I am wondering who would be available and who would we give up??

Givin up someone like Jones for a proven power hitter, or they have the farm system talent for sure. I have heard many times that Helton might be lookin to be traded, yea his year is terrible right now but he should regain this year even. Thome is a trade canidate also but Morneau is at 1st, but maybe put Thome at DH. I know there are a ton more out there but I hope they add someone that is a tough player and get rid of a few weaker prospects that probably wont turn out to be all star players.

This morning star & trib mentioned Joe Randa a 3rd baseman, That would be a good addition. They were going to sign this guy at the begining of the year but stuck with Cuddy. Another add could be Adam Dunn but that would add another outfielder.

Check out his home run numbers and rbi numbers and you might think otherwise grin.gif

Dunn is a threat to hit 50 every single year no matter what. And he is still young. I would bench all of those players for a player like Dunn. I said just put Dunn at 1st if Morneau gets injured. I was saying put him in right if they traded Jones, but I would still rather have Dunn that Jones starting out there. And Dunn compared to Ford isn't even close. Batting average is bad but the Twins need that power. We have all the average hitters we could want, all we need is that last peice of the puzzle. The guy where he can come in and drive in every person on base a good percentage of the time. I follow baseball closer than most people, I am active with 12 fantasy baseball teams which I am in first on everyteam but one. I know baseball isn't actually fantasy play but it atleast tells you the stats and lets you learn more about players that you wouldn't normally see watching a Twins game.

Try and trade Rogers or Clemens instead if you can. If you are way up in wins and strikeouts definitely do it. Otherwise there are usually a few on the FA that will atleast put a save up or 2.

Johan or Pedro you should be able to get alot more than just Cordero for.

I agree Pig, I would love to have Dunn on my team at any point. Problem is, we've kind of put all our eggs in the Morneau basket in terms of a power hitter. It hasn't worked out, but your lineup can only afford one guy like that. Dunn's RBI's and HR's are great, but he's struck out 78 times in 70 games this year. Two power hitters equals alot of strike outs and fly outs in instances where we need to get hits. There's a reason people are starting to copy Twins baseball - loading up with home run hitters doesn't win real games - only fantasy games. I think it comes down to Morneau or Dunn, and I would rather have Dunn, but it's probably a little late for that.

Also, I just don't think Jones is on the table anymore.

As far as the fantasy trade: I would see if you could get your closer for Rogers first, because he's probably going to wear down late because of his age. Plus, be careful who you give up ... at least in my leagues, saves aren't nearly as important as the stats starters can rack up. If I had those great starters, I would stock-pile them so nobody else could have their points. Pick up a guy like Brandon Lyon, who will come off the DL in a couple weeks, or see if LA's new closer is still available.
