Mille Lacs water temps and muskie fishing

Recommended Posts

I'm heading up there from the 22nd to the 26th and we are staying on the north shore and was wondering what the water temps are around the lake? Basically wondering where the warm water is right now? south or north end east or west? Sounds like its been pretty slow up there, but maybe the warm weather and the full moon will turn those big girls on after spawning. Of course any fishing tips are appreciated,

and if anyone is going to be fishing then and want to get together let me know.

I was on the Big Pond Sat. Water temps in the southern bays seemed to be hanging in th mid 60s. The fish seemed to respond well to Red, Red and sometimes they would follow on Red. I picked up one small fish up high on the rocks.

I wish someone would give tips on color.....

I haven't been out there since 6/11. But it was very slow that day on the north end. I didn't even see a fish (unless you count a few pike).

Red works well and jerkbaits with a orange belly seem to trigger. I have also had good luck with "whitefish" colors, white body with blue/green backs. Super bright orange brings up alot of fish in the bucktail department.

Jon, I was actually kidding on the wishing someone would give tips on colors comments after your red, red and red comment. But good tips anyways!

Hey do you think Pink could pass for red? Kind of the same... maybe there are a few muskies that can't tell shades...

Good Luck on the pond... Was there a few weekends ago tough fishing and the weed growth wasn't to great yet on the north end.
