Fish-N-Chum Rod Holder

Recommended Posts

This past ice fishing season, I had the chance to field test the Fish-N-Chum rod holder. Skeptical about its intended use, at first, I did find the Fish-N-Chum handy in certain ice fishing situations while strapped to my leg, since using two lines are legal in Minnesota and it’s clumsy to hold two rods at once.

Another field test my sons and I gave the Fish-N-Chum rod holder is while dock fishing.

Laying the fishing poles down on the dock is only an invitation for someone to step on or trip over; a hazard for both the person and fishing pole. Not any longer.

In about 10 seconds, the F-N-C was strapped around a dock pole and worked great for holding a full size fishing rod. The detent settings in the angle adjustment held the pole securely, too. Although I wouldn’t leave the F-N-C’s strapped to the dock poles all summer, as the weather may deteriorate the elastic strapping. To me, buying fishing products that can be used all year long is a bonus. My sons can strap the Fish-N-Chums to the dock poles themselves and keep their poles secure and within easy reach when the bobber goes down.

One of the best applications I ever saw of this unit was ice fishing up on Lake of the woods with Paul Waldowski. He had it strapped to his leg, and instead of putting a rod in there, he put an ice scoop. It held the ice scoop awesome. He would then drill a hole, and scoop it. Great when drilling a lot of holes!

That would be great for folks who like to fish off public docks or at a cabin they rent for the week. I'm sure with a little setup it would work great for shore fisherman as well.
