leechlake
gsp I was there opener through tuesday. The fishing was good as always. Caught fish a bit deeper than the normal 10-15, best fishing happened to be 15-22'. The sun came out on Monday and the water warmed to a bit over 60 during the day, it was around 56 when the sun wasn't out the previous days. Water is up presently per the locals. I've been going there a few times a year for about 15 years and I can't usually remember water levels from year to year.
Shorelunch
Fished out of Morson last Friday - Monday (Memorial Weekend). Caught smaller males Friday afternoon and Saturday morning in 15-25 FOW using jigs and minnows. Then the wind switched to the west Saturday afternoon and the females came in. Biggest was 25" with many in the 20-23" and 16 - 18" range. Around 15-20 FOW using white or chartruse jigs and minnows were the ticket.
Wild Thing
Wow, great to see some Morson chatter out there! The Lake came up nearly 6 inches from Thursday to Tuesday, very high. All the rivers along the border are over their banks, the Rainy River is up to its brim and muddy thanks to a 3-inch rainfall in many areas last week. Walleyes were on boulders for us, near the sand. 15-20 feet, except in evening when they came in shallow. My guess is the walleyes will be on the sand soon, eh? Any comments? Pine flys were awful on Tuesday. They don't bite, but they stick to everything like glue and bug the heck out of ya in the boat.
