regular oil vs AMSOIL

I just bought an '01 chevy tahoe. has 75,000 miles on it. I bought from a dealer, but talked to the people who bought it new. they have put amsoil in it since it was new, and of course the first thing the dealer does is change the oil, so now it has regular oil in it. I have an appt to get it changed back to amsoil, should I keep it or should I just run regular oil. I will be pulling a 30 travel trailer with it occasionally.

any advice is appreciated, anyone use synthetic and love it....hate it, indifferent...worth it or not..... thanks for all help!!

I've always liked Mobil 1 synthetic. The big advantage is much less viscosity change. It still pours at -40 and makes winter starting much easier on everything. It is more stable too.

You might want to ask this question in expert-equipment as most of the mechanics hang out there.

I have 3 vehicles with the fewest miles @ 105,000, highest @ 213,000. No intentions of buying anything in the near future, regular oil with changes every 3000 miles.

I would stick with the Ams Oil. It is better on gas and check to see what oil filter they put in it. Usually they would have the Ams oil filter when putting Ams Oil in a vehicle. I think you only have to change oil filters every 10000-15000 miles when you use both. Is there any Ams Dealers in Hutch?

Mr. Walleye:

I did go back to amsoil. the dealer I went to was the one the original owner of the truck went to in Mayer. Very nice guy, does amsoil and other repair work out of his home. let me know if you want his name and #. I don't think there is anyone in hutch that deals it. I'm planning on doing my own filter change at 6 month, then have him do another change at 1 year. we only put on about 12000 miles a year, and that is well under the max miles for amsoil.
