I'm headed up around the 1st week of june.Going to rent a truck.Drive to Homer fish 1st day Halibut 2,3rd day Salmon 4th day rest 5day Halibut.

If anyones interested let me know.

Total cost airfare $360

Fishing $400

Food = ?100bucks if you eat like a normal fisherman

Truck rental, gas, hotel is paid for by me since i'm already going for 1 other person

Things you need to bring along

Rain gear bibs if possible, rubber boots.stocking hat, baseball cap, gloves, warm clothes, shorts just incase, sun glasses Ha,Pack all this in a cooler and throw a bag in the cooler for your clothes on the way back cause the cooler should be full of fish

My dates are flexible but we dont wanna leave on a fri or a sat.

sun or a mon would be best this way less tourist to deal with and more fishing for us.

E-mail me at tjmalaskan@yahoo

By the way there would be extra cost if you wanna bring more fish back then what the weight limits are on the plane.

Hi TJM: I also fish Alaska every year, but my trips are during the second run of Silvers on the Kasilof, south of Soldotna. We stay in Sterling and it's a 20 minute drive in the morning.. Have also fished Seward for both salmon and Halibut. Great place and it's a different kind of fishing. NWA changed their weight limits a couple of years ago to 50# gross on each cooler, but I think it's still three coolers per person, plus carry on, so that still plenty of filets...LOL Kaz

Hey Kaz,no Halibut fishing???

Well if the airlines keep making the weight limits lighter and lighter i'll have to exchange all my pennies into bills prior to boarding.I'm fly'n suncountry save a 100 bucks plus your allowed 10lbs more per piece. shocked.gif if by chance i need to bring back more then allowed sun country is also cheaper for extra. No lunch but they do give ya a bag of chips now smirk.gif

I used to live up there so Salmon to me is like bullheads.I do like hooking into those 60-80lb kings though.I'm going for the Halibut maybe bring back a couple salmon if i have the room.Normaly fish with my brothers who all live up there yet but bad timming and them all being busy try'n to make money this time of year leaves me waiting till fall to hook up with them.

I cant wait til fall for Halibut ooo.gif

can you tell me where to get airfare at that price? My sister lives up there and:

1. I would like to visit

2. I would like to fish

or is is the other way around?

All the airfare I look at is around $600pp.

Well jack you owe me atleast that 20 so yea you can go to my house drop the 20 off.OR take me to the south dam thursday in your boat

(dtro)

Sun country offers non stop flights to Anchorage round trip for that price(conditions are)1 week advance payment min stay of 3 days and a max stay of 1 week or else you pay 50 bucks more for 1 week.Dont waste your time with a travel agent just get a credit card number and by it off line.I just did a quick search on yahoo travel and came up with about the same price through Sun country.Noth West is about 75 bucks more but you need a 2 week advance payment and you can stay for 30 days no travel on thur, fri,or sat

TJM: I didn't know that Sun Country goes there. I usually do the Perk Ticket from NWA since I charge everything on my Visa card. Most of the times it takes 25,000 points to make the trip, unless you have to use more for the "Rule Buster". Then it's 35,000. I have to check out S/C this time to see what they have. We're usually up for 4 days. And yes, I do like to get the Halibit too. I've gone out of Homer and Ninilchik for the flat fish, but Seward is my all around favorite for both fish. I actually saw a good size salmon jump right into the boat one day in the bay there. You know how they surface to knock off the sea lice, well there is so many of them in the harbor because the hatchery puts them in by the water fall and they have no place to go upstream. It scared the heck out of this old guy in a open 16' boat. It was funny to hear him yelling that "Their falling from the sky" LOL. Good to hear about my other favorate place to fish.... Maybe we can hook up there sometime. The second run of Silvers is I think in late Aug or first of Sept. That's my time to go after the Walleyes slow until the end of Sept or first of Nov here.... S/C closed the Alaska door way for a couple years but they be back and running a lot cheaper this year.Problem is they only fly to Anch 3 or 4 months during the peak season.

The good old fly'n silvers.Action pack fish per pound thats for sure.

Well i'm off to Indy for the day then the long drive back to Mn.Hope all is going well for everyone fishing back home.Sounds like a trip to the pond is a waste of time again by the reports i got so far.c-ya on the water thursday guys
