Old Daiwa Millionaire, worth using?

Recommended Posts

I just purchased my first muskie rod (8' MH Fig Rig) and am planning on putting and 25+ year old Daiwa Millionaire 4H on it. I got it as a gift when I was just a kid and have had it sitting around forever. It never was used much and seems to be in good shape. I took it apart last night and cleaned and oiled it, it seems to be fine but I guess I won't know until it really matters.

Anyone have an opinion on old Daiwa Millionaires like this? Are they decent quality or am I kidding myself trying to use a reel that's been sitting around that long?

The Millionaires were a really nice real when the one you've got was born. However, if I were you I'd fork out the $$$ and get a decent newer reel. Lots of good options and you can get one for about $75 that is solid.

I would have to disagree...I have one...not sure where it came from...but it does everything my newer high end rigs do...only a bit heavier. Always reliable...give it a shot before you walk away from it...I woudl bet that once you walk away form it...you will never give it a shot.
