PERCHJR
Was wondering your guys opinions on this??? I have read some other forums and they are asking the same ?. I think that they shouldn't have thrown the caution when Martin spun out??? Looked kind of fishy to me??? There were other spins that didn't affect the racing and they never threw the caution on those!!! What do you guys think??? Guess NASCAR didn't think the finish was going to end up the way they wanted??? GOOD LUCK AND GOOD FISHING!!!
eyepatrol
I was relatively surprised they threw the caution flag myself. Sure he spun, but he didn't hit anything or put metal debris down on the track that I can remember (someone correct me on this if I'm wrong though...I can't remember). I question it too. Even though I'm a big Gordon fan, you could tell Gordon wasn't going to win the race (before the caution came out) and so I was pulling for Dodge, except I was pulling more for Kahne as I'd like to see him get the first win for the Dodge Chargers. What's done is done though I guess.
lawdog
on a 180 mph race track with limited racing room as it is, I think a spin should ALWAYS bring out a caution. At BEST that car will be trying to come back up to speed and blend in with cars at full speed leading to a wreck waiting to happen...
eyepatrol
lawdogI see you're from Luverne. I've got LOTS of relatives down that way in both Pipestone and Luverne. In fact, my grandparents live on a farm about 10 miles north of Luverne about 1 mile off highway 75. Good deer hunting and pheasant hunting. Only, the big bucks have disappeared where we hunt over the past 8 years or so. Don't know exactly what happened, but there only seems to be "basketracks" around anymore. Does the name Medill ring a bell to you?
Eric Wettschreck
I agree with the Dawg on this one. There just isn't enough room on that track. When a car spins the yellow should come out.
lawdog
basscatcher I grew up in Pipestone and now I live here. I've known the name Medill for a long time. Don't know any real well, but do know some.As for the basket rack bucks, that's what a two or four day deer season gives you. Not much done for qdm type hunting, although the all-season has improved it. There are still good bucks around, you just have to hunt em hard and know where to look! Guest
I believe the caution was correct as when the spun car is coming back on the track to many bad things can happen.Usually the flag man makes his call and if he doesnt throw it ,they say why not.Safety first,I agree the cautions stink, but it usually saves someones car.Tough call for the man in the flag stand, you have to be consistent in your calls. The flagman has to make that call now,he doesnt have 1-2 days to figure out if it was right.I have done some flagging and it is tougher than one thinks, split second-make call just like the driver has to do.
