0 CabinBoy
Could very likely be a bad bulb. I had a 2000 125 merc and the first time I ran it (brand new), I had the same problem you are having. It was a bad bulb. They are rather inexpensive, so before you take it into a repair shop, I'd try a new bulb.
0 MRWALLEYE2005
You might want to open the gas cap a little when running like that. On mine I do when I start it to get some air and the pump stays full. Either try that or it could also be a fuel filter inside needs to be replaced.
0 Valv
I would try the bulb first, I believe you have an inboard tank, so the cap has no influence. If everything fails it should be just the fuel pump which is farely inexpensive to replace or fix.If you go to this site:http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/PartsExpress/ProductSelection/ServiceParts/sphome.asp?CID=Enter your serial # and follow questions it will give you all the parts prices and diagrams of your motor
0 Knotwood
It might be the valves in the primer plugging up, or sometimes the screen in the pick up inside the tank gets partially plugged, or maybe an air leak at a connection- from the tank to the hose or along the other hose connections. Try blowing back thru the hose, disconnecting the primer first (it has check valves in it), then siphoning the gas out of the tank, then filtering the fuel back in thru a screened funnel or paint strainer to keep the debris from re-entering the tank. I've seen pick up tubes work loose inside the tank, too. Have you tried another tank? A different hose? It doesn't sound like a fuel pump problem. 0 strat-o-caster
Check the hose for any crimp's that happened to me. Look carefully it might look fine, Start at one end and work your way to the end.... Strat

0 Thomas
I would check the O ring that connect the fuel line to the motor. I had the same problem, only needed to tighten it up.
