Navionics Premium - some maps not quite on in my Lowrance 330c

I purchased the navionics premium (had debated about it versus the lowrance map). Tried it out on a local lake (Lake Zumbro in SE Mn). This has just the dnr map with 10 and 5' breaklinkes at times. However it seems to be off by a good 75 foot. For instance the inlet where the boat launch is quite a bit away on the gps when I'm loading/unloading. I have the map installed in my Lowrance LMS 330c.

Is this just because its the DNR map and not one of the higher quality maps? Is there a way to correlate the gps so the map is accurate?

I assume that Lowrance model has WAAS correction signal. It should be closer than 75 ft. I am not familiar with those particular maps but that would be the first place to look.

yes even with WAAS the whole map is shifter position wise quite a bit off from where it should be.

That maps that are not the primium are not as accurate.. I too have noticed when on a lake that just has the DNR map on it.. it can be a tad off.. however the lakes that have the 1 or 3 foot contours.. are SPOT on!!!!

Any of the HD maps will be dead on as DD said. And you are correct, the others are based on DNR maps which we all know are way off to begin with. Still better than nothing though.

Carlcmc, if your talking about the position of your boat in relation to the lake map, as its displayed on the screen, it may be the software loaded in the unit. Mine did that last year and was corrected with a updated softwre version. good luck

what unit did you have? 330c?

Are you sure you activated the chip? I just purchased a 332c this week end and installed it while at a resort at Bigstone. On the basic map it had us on land when we were 30 yards from shore.

I thought when you installed the chip it would automatically run on it. I found you have to switch to it. It gave me four choices and the third was the one. Location was very accurate. Showed names of all islands and locations. Left it on when I drove home and trailed followed road perfect. Very impressed.
