Salmo slider

Yup, I've got three of them and really like them. I love Salmos, but one word of advice, replace the split rings with a higher end split ring. Other than that, I love 'em.

First, I love Salmos, so don't think I'm crackin' on 'em. However, they have a reputation for having weak split rings on them (so do Gapen products). If I get the fish of a lifetime on, I don't want to have to tell the sob story about how it got away by pulling the split ring out. When I change mine out I notice how soft they feel and I think I'm making a good move by replacing them.

Salmo has a great line of muskie baits, the Slider is a great one! The new Dinner Bell and Maas Marauder's are awesome too!

I've never heard of any problems with the rings on Salmo products. We've landed numerous muskie, eyes, pike, and bass on them and never had one give.

It's always a good idea to upgrade the splitrings

that come from the factory on most muskie baits.

I use Joe Bucher splitrings however, there are a number of other brands available that are good.

Weak splitrings may catch a few fish without any problems, however sooner or later, they will fail on you. It's a small investment when you consider what's at steak...The fish of a lifetime.smirk.gif

Matt,

Yep, I agree. I caught quite a few sklunges on my slider before I started to wonder about the strength of its splitrings. I started snooping around on some of the muskie boards and a lot of people don't feel good about the split rings on the Salmos. Again, I love Salmo products, I just think their split rings need an upgrade. Also, if you do any work on the Salmo split rings you'll notice how much softer they feel than many other brand's split rings. And with sklunge fishing, I don't ever want my equipment to be the reason I lose a 50 incher.
