Ryan Berger
In my local paper a guy has listed a 2000 Lund Pro-Sport 17' with a 155 Johnson on it. Its not exactly what I am looking for but it seems like it might be a good deal. The guy is asking $11,000 for it. is this a good deal or should I just hold off till I find the SC 18' I have been waiting for???please helpLDB
sakazulu
LDB, I am by no means any expert on boats but would like to give you the benefit of my experience. I bought a '95 Pro-V 1660 w/a '94 Johnson 60hp tiller 3 yrs. ago. The boat was all set up with neatly mounted depth finder, seperate external antenna gps, bow mount remote Minn-Kota w/twin Optima batteries. It was very well maintained and low hours, less than 200, on a Shorelander trailer. I paid $8k and was worried I paid too much. I know people who fish and trusted them when they said I did good. Your deal sounds good, especially if it comes w/some goodies and is clean. I do know Johnson had some issues w/FICHT two strokes so you would probably want to educate yourself on that. My 60hp is VRO and I wished I did some internet surfing on it before I learned the hard way. My friend has a 1750 SC w/a 250 Yamaha and he can fish much worse weather than I can. Bigger is better on big water. We fish Kab and the Big Pond.
CabinBoy
It's probably in the ballpark. I'm assuming it is a 115 Johnson as they don't make a 155. That boat was probably around $14 - $15K new, so $11K isn't bad, especially if there are a few extras. I'd look around though, you'll see some pretty good deals in the next few weeks with guys trying to unload boats that have new ones coming. Good Luck. SUNNYD
A 250HP Motor on a 1750???? I don't know of any manufacturer that makes a 1750(Assuming 17'6") rated for that kind of motor, is it an outboard or inboard? I would sure like to see how fast this one goes WOT. I have a 17'2" SC boat with a 115HP(rated for 140) and it will go into the mid 40's for speed, I would be scared for my life if I put a 250 on it...Sorry didn't mean to do any thread jacking...just needed clarification on this one.Take care! Northlander
Ya I have never seen a 250 on a 17'6" boat. I cant remember ever seeing a 250 on anything less than 20'. I think my 17' Explorer would take on water with a 250 on it. Must be a typo or something?
