Boat repair

I want to bring in my boat to be fixed but have never had to do it before. I am just looking for a few suggestions as to where to take it. I work in Bloomington and live in Apple Valley and am looking for places close by. Any suggestions? I just want to make sure I am getting the best deal and taking it to someone trustworthy. I would call Recreational Repair in Farmington on Hwy 3. I have had my boat in there a couple times and they do good work at a very reasonable price.

I have an old (probably older than 1975) 18 horse johnson and about every 30 seconds the motor will give a big jolt and it will kick the whole boat. I talked to a dealer in Shakopee and they said it may be something simple but it also may be that the gear shifter is worsening and that it could cost up to $1000 to fix. Not going to pay that much because that motor is not worth nearly that much. Not sure what to do, just need some good advice.

That jolt is lean sneeze and sounds like you need the carb cleaned or at least it needs adjustment.

Any boat dealer should be able to fix it? Approximately how much will it cost? Thanks for your input
