G Loomis

I have the SJR782 IMX G.Loomis rod which is the same as what you are looking at only a half foot longer. I have used this rod for the last 5 years and it is awesome. There are lots of good rods out there and some are a lot less expensive but I wouldn't part with my Loomis for any reason. If you are sold on a G. Loomis rod, you will not be disappointed in the IMX line.

I have Loomis's Walleye Series rod in a 6'3" rod....sweet rod. Fast tip section and incredible sensitivity w/ backbone! I set it up with a smaller sized reel and it's like holding a feather in my hand grin.gif

When I bought the Walleye Series rod, I was told it was a mix of the IMX and some other rod Loomis makes...is this true?

I use a few diff. G-Loomis rods and love them all. They are the following:

GL2 SJR 782 6'6" Medium - Good for rigging and jigging!

GL2 SJR 721 6' Light - Vertical jigging! One of my favorites.

Walleye Series WTR 941C Mag. Med. 7'10" - Trolling raps with mono!

IMX MBR 782C 6'6" Med. - Good for casting and jigging. Expensive though!

Can't go wrong with a loomis. The best feature is the replacement policy. I take them to the stoe and pay the 8$ shipping and have a new rod in a week or two at the most. Can pay more to have it faster though.

Recently in the past few years there are much more less expensive rods available that are basically the same in IM7 or IM6 with good replacement policies as well. Two of these would be either the Gander Mt. or the Scheels rods (can walk out the same day with a new rod with no questions asked). I broke a rod in the car door and told them that and Scheels still gave me a new one that day! I have a couple of these as well. If I had to spend the money again I would buy less expensive rods. St. Croix also makes very comparable rods, but are still more spendy then the latter two aforementioned.

Just look for the graphite content, price and replacement policy and you can't go wrong.

I use an IMX SJR6400 for really light bites

I use a GL2 SJR720 for verticle jigging.

And in my opinion the best rigging rod on the planet - IMX HS9000.

I just finished building one at Thorne bros. Total cost for it was $197.00 and change. grin.gif

It's the best rod I've ever built and I'm not keeping it. It's a gift for a guy

who's letting me turkey hunt his land and stay in his cabin in Wisconsin.
