The 2005 Minnesota Twins will....................

.....finally get to Percival after 40 innings of trying, thank god for that. Besides a few control issues and maybe a little fatigue, I thought Mays looked good. Maroth may have looked decent on paper, but if you saw the game, he was hit hard the whole way through. Backherup, I have to admit I am slightly impressed with the Tigers lineup top to bottom, HOWEVER, they may still have some problems getting to the closer. It will be an interesting year to say the least.

I don't know if you guys saw this, but Mr. Young must have been quite confused after our depleted squad mustered a "w" last night. Add him to the list of Central division foes who will end up with his foot in his mouth as many White Sox have done. This story is from before yesterday's game.

______

Bold prediction? Detroit Tigers first baseman Dmitri Young won't see the Twins until Tuesday's series opener at the Metrodome. But after Detroit finished its series with the Indians on Sunday, Young has apparently seen enough to make some predictions about the outcome of AL Central.

"This is our rival right here," Young said of Cleveland. "Forget the other teams. I think it's going to come down to us and them. Just look at the different positions, look at the matchups. The matchups are pretty similar."

The Twins have won the last three division titles and are many experts' pick to take a fourth-straight championship. When a reporter asked him about Minnesota, Young shrugged.

"Us and Cleveland," he said.

I used to like this guy because I thought he was tough playing for a losing team all those years and still trying to be competitive. But come on. You really think it's just between you and cleveland? Gimme a break Dimitri. Maybe they'll ask him what he thinks after this weeks series. grin.gif

Let our play do the talkin.

Those two teams are obviously on the rise but Dmitri must be smoking crack if he does not realize how wide the gap between the Twinks and Detroit was these past couple years.

Examples:

Detroit has lost on average 104 games the last two years.

Maroth won 11 games last year. He was the first Tigers pitcher in 3 years to hit double digits.

The twins were looking real good tonight vs. the motor city. Jones hit the dump outta the ball, good thing i have him on my fantasy team hehe grin.gif radke gave up his normal 2 runs in the frist. Gosh that is scary but he always comes back.

I heard there was a special on brooms down at Fleet Farm or was it Home Depot? 10 more runs against that Detroit pitching staff tonight and a few more booted balls from there defense! What can I say... pitching and defense wins games... along with 10 runs! It's gotta be so disheartining for "Cantbackitup" to talk all that smack (will it ever end) only to have his team get swept, spanked trashed in a three game set with the lowly Twins (per Dmitri "not so" Young). The only thing Detroit players are better at than the Twins are talking trash! and maybe sweeping it up as well! I really can't wait til "Cantbackitup" is back from his imaginary truck tour so he can

A. explain what happened blush.gif

B. tell us about revenge at his home park shocked.gif

C. give up the Twins rule and the Tigers still stink and always will stink! crazy.gif

Also, please tell us at what positions AGAIN the Tigers are better than Minnesota?! grin.gifgrin.gifblush.gif

Hilarious guys...

Santana improved to 3-0 tonight.

I know this has been rehashed sooooooooo many times, but, "How is Detroits farm system?" 'Cause obviously signing big names hasn't worked for them yet. grin.gif

I tried to find "Can't Back er Ups" post about how Santana wasn't going to be able to be at last years level due to a multiple reasons, but couldn't find it. Looks like though Santana is doing just fine with out the players we lost.

Santana wins 16th straight decision

Photo Wire

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Johan Santana wasn't quite himself. He didn't have his typical fastball, curve or changeup. For one of the rare times in the past year, Minnesota's ace actually looked like he could be beaten.

But as usual, he wasn't.

Santana won his 16th straight decision, pitching six strong innings as the Twins won their fifth straight, 3-2 over the Cleveland Indians on Friday night.

The 2004 AL Cy Young Award winner, Santana (3-0) remained unbeaten since July 11 of last season, a stretch of 20 starts that included two postseason outings against New York. He allowed two runs and six hits.

"Good pitchers find a way to win," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said, "and that's what he did."

I have read some of his posts. Guy must really be a Tigers fan through and through(sad). But you got to like that he just doesnt jump on the bandwagon. Anyways, about Santana! The guy is unstoppable. Hes got 20 wins in him this year and dont be surprised if he wins the Cy Young again.

Santana's no BONDERMAN!! He's no Fydrich!! He's no no no nobody!! frown.gif

He'd be so much better if he had on a Detroit jersey!! He cheats!!

Mauer... he's also a nobody!! nobody, nobody, nobody with absolutely NO future... Pudge is the best ever!! Even if we'll only have him for a few years at the end of his career.... I'm also OK with the fact that the only reason he signed here is because he just got his ring with the Marlins and we were the only organization that would completely overpay my hero!! Did I mention Dmitri Young... huh huh did I?? well lets see one of your guys hit three homeruns in a game!! I bet they can't, because they're no good and they cheat! and don't even tell me Dmitri has a cork fetish, I just won't believe it... no no no!! I won't! Coaching... well obviously Alan Trammell is waaaaay better than Gardenhead, I mean Gardenhead never really played much if a tall in the BIGS and Trammell was an All Star!! Ther you have it, Now I can untie Buzzsaw and go back to hiding!! shocked.gif
