fishnutbob
JZ. I just returned from the Kenora area. Sun, went with 11 guys and fished down by the French narrows, the ice was still good with alot of snow, we used both quad and snow machines, slush when we drilled holes, we did see open water around some of the Islands where the currant was strong, need to be careful. we did have a good walleye bite in 32 ft. Hope this helps Bob Auel
Hemlock
Bob, I really wish we could've chatted more at the Rambler. I ended up BSing with Paul Waldowski for about an hour, about LOTW. When I came out to have more food and socializing, everyone was gone. Maybe it was more than an hour of BSing....Anyways, glad to hear you found the walleyes. Did you have to hunt to get them, or was it a pretty steady bite anywhere? I'm headed down to Whitefish Bay on Sunday to try one last time for Lakers and maybe walleyes.JZ, Ice is plenty, snow's going fast.

fishnutbob
Hemlock, I know Im a good bser myself, I looked for you but figured you hit the bed. I was really looking for my perogies I left early as Sun we headed east on Rainy to kettle falls area 35 miles for Walleyes and Big Crappies. I think I was getting fished out Thurs I got up to the Falls we went to Nestor and fished crappies thurs. Fri headed to Crow Laker fishing Sat. fished Sand Bay with the gang. Sun. Didnt find the Big crappies by Kettle falls too early, I did get a nice 25" eye, my buddy caught a big 35" pout. Thurs the 24th we headed to Kenora went out of Smith Camp they have a ice road going out, I talked to a guide up on the lake Trevor Guderyan he showed me the walleye spot 32 ft we caught all the eyes on this spot, we had plenty for a fry for 11 guys and took some home, also some big perch. he also showed me a crappie spot fish a pound or bigger east of French narrows alot of locals fishing there saw some nice crappies, but its a little early yet when you get the run off, the crappies start biting good in that area. I have a map and could tell you the crappie spot it runs along the snowmobile trail east, you can see all the holes as you pass. e-mail me [email protected] if you want the spot. Had a good time at the Rambler meeting everyone, thanks to all who cooked and brought food, and Warren and his wife are great. Heading to Alaska Sat. for seven days and a little halibut fishing, hope to get back to Kenora this summer. Bob auel
