Sich-

You have 3 choices as I look at it. I too never had to wear glasses untill I turned 24 years of age.. and grew up fishing with polarized glasses... these are the 3 I have tried.

Chice number #1 is good, there are quite a few companies out there that make Polarised perscription glasses. Depending on your persription they can make just about everything, however, often times these are much heavier and do not wrap around your face to totally block out the light like many of the high dollar polarized glasses do. But again, a very good option.

#2, you can get glasses and then get clip on polarised sunglasses that attach to your glasses that you have. I think option #1 is better but many do this.

#3 This is what works best for me. Contacts.. Then you buy whatever glasses you want. I almost always have an extra pair of contacts in the boat in case one falls out(which has never happend to me, even at 60 MPH in a bass boat).

Try all 3 options and find what works best for you... and there is always lazer corective surgery as well..

for the last 5 years i have been wearing prescription polarized Ray-Bans. they have worked great. i recently found a contact lens that i really like (i don't remember the name of them)so i am looking forward to wearing contacts again. i bought some regular polarized sunglasses, the Costa Del Mar Fathoms on the recommendation of Deitz. i got the Wave 580 lens and they are FANTASTIC. Deitz, you should look into getting the 580's in yours.

Check with your eye Doctor. I was able to get prescripion polarized Bolle sunglasses. Most(but not all) frames can be fitted with polarized lenses with your prescription. My Doctor offered choices betweeen Bolle, Oakley, and Maui Jim frames. I was able to get a wrap around style. The best part-insurance covered everything except the polarization! I hate putting in contacts at 4am on Saturdays. The only drawback is when it rains. Glasses get water drops and I have to leave them on or fish without corrective lenses.

I know a couple guys that wear cocoons and i know my dad was able to get pescription Costa Del Mars. Some health plans may even cover part of it. Thats the route i would reccomend. I do not think you get the quality or protection of your eyes that you are used if you go with the cocoons. There is a great article in the most recent FLW outdoors magazine on why high end polaroid sun glasses are worth the $$$$$.

I would like to recommend Action Optics sunglasses. They range in price from $65 to $160. I have a pair and I love them. Very light and its amazing how much better I can see with these than with the $12 dollar specials. You can find these at Cabelas or I believe they can be found in a few stores around the metro.
