Frabill house

riverrat56

Question

Dad bought me a new fish house for my birthday, After i spent 4 hours putting it together i realise that the back 2 corner hooks (the house is Frabill Ranger XLtwin) were very loose and the canvas was also loose enough that snow or w/e would blow in. I could fix it by drilling 2 more holes lower down and attaching it, but i think im missing something minor in the instructions about the back hooks. I got the middle 2 plenty tight and the side 2 with the small bungys but the 2 back corners seem to loose.

Anyone else ever put one together? Any thoughts on how to fix it, ill drill the hole if i have to no big deal really, just think im missing something.

I have a Ranger-Solo and finally dealt with this same problem. I bought some aluminum flat strap about 1-1/2" to 2" wide and bent it into a channel shape. Then I drilled holes through the channel about every 4 inches and slipped the whole works up onto the lip on the back of the sled. The final step was to stuff the shelter fabric down into the channel, drill again, and fasten everything together with small nuts n bolts. Works like a charm but don't plan on taking the entire tent portion off of the sled anytime soon. That little hook system doesn't work too well in my mind. Take your time and do it right and it looks just fine on there.

Pike- I normally fish Clear lake by New Ulm, Hanska, Sleepy Eye, and the minnesota river. If i feel like taking a little trip i head over to the St. Peter area and fish Washington and German. I also got out on St. James a few times this year.

I usually fish alone, but my dog needs a dry place to lay down in the sled, when the portable is set up. Frabill's Ranger Solo is just about the right size...

Look this post over it may help.

I purchased and assembled an unused 2003 model Ranger Solo portable about a week ago. It was still in the original factory box, and I put it together in about 3 hours...

Liked it very much, until I learned about the many improvements that Frabill has incorporated in the current 2005 model Ranger Solo unit. So I exchanged my assembled but unused 2003 model for a 2005 model still in the box. I assembed the new 2005 model in my living room two nights ago, in about 90 minutes.

I'm so pleased I upgraded to the current 2005 model. So many new and improved features... I've ordered a set of the adjustable bracing support poles for windy setups, and the dog and I are looking forward to a really comfortable winter of fishing...

Thanks, Ed...
