Hawg Wobbler

Anyone elso out there spend way to much time throwing a HW? I just love watching the wall of water when a ski starts to pus up behind the HW.

My buddies give me a bad time...they think I fish a HW to much. I use it in slightly choppy water...no more than 2 foot waves.

I have hired a few guides over the past several years and also listened to a lot of speakers at my Muskie Inc. meetings. Just about all of them mention the Hawg Wobbler as one of the baits they use. Gotta like that for an endorsement.

My favorite lure! I have 5 of them. Smity Baits made me a 17" jointed topwater. Needs some tweaking to get the some action as the trusty HWer.

Try twisting the bait one or two turns tighter---so it makes the tick-tock sound at an even slower speed.Then bend the lip so it's straight down.Now go fish in the dark-ness of a moon-less night over your favorite weedbed.tick-tock-tick-tock---WHAM

The HW is at it's best in flat calm and low light conditions. I would never throw them in 2ft waves as there are other baits that would do a better job in those conditions. It's all about what you have confidence in, if you like them in waves hey throw them in waves.

If your looking for a similar bait that will work in a chop, try a "Locamotive" from Slam'er, it is very similar however, it handles rough water much better than a Hogg wobbler.

BigGuy - Could you clarify tightening the HW? Not quite sure what you mean.

Grab the lure with the front half in one hand and the back half with your last hand.Now tighten the lure by turning the last hand clock-wise either 1/2,1,11/2,or if it was really loose 2 turns.Now rest your last hand by wrapping it around something cold.----works done!
