Boat Trailer Question

unclejake

Question

Looking for some information on a boat trailer comparison....Shorelander vs. Tebben Trailer.

I bought a boat recently, but have not received it yet. The original deal was for it to be on a Shorelander Trailer. Now the boat dealer is calling me up asking if they can set me up with a Tebben Trailer...because they can save me a few $$ and it might be a better fit for my boat.

The Tebben trailer is supposedly a similar style to what the shorelander was to be...roller style for a 16' boat. I do not know much about a the "Tebben" trailers except they are built here in Minnesota.

Does anyone have any input???

Thanks!

I bought a Shorelander for my heavy 1978 20 foot Penn Yan in 1987. It's a tandum axle with brakes. I've only had to replace one of the middle rollers so far. It needs the winch strap replaced soon and the brakes stopped working last summer. I use it mainly in salt water and that's rough on a trailer, but I feel it's held up very well. I have used other trailers and they don't do as well on high speed driving. They tend to "fish tail" and my Shorelander tracks so well it's hard to tell it's even back there! Go with the best!

The Tebben trailer is I believe what used to be the Spartan Trailer. Go to Tebben's HSOforum and check out the trailer link. Do a google search on "Tebben Enterprises" and their site will be the first result.

Thanks...I appreciate FMers opinions.

I decided to stick with the Shorelander. I've heard good things about them from various people and the resale value might be a little better too.
