Rowan Lake?

Scoot,

Been there 2x. Muskies are tough but there are some very big fish with a chance at a 50+. Lake trout fishing is awesome with lots of 5-8lbers (and bigger). Walleyes can be found in certain areas but they are not prevelant or big. There is a short portage to Hill Lake where walleye fishing is much better.

It is worth it if you go there looking for a large fish but not necessarily numbers in my opinion.

I have heard that Rowan Muskies are very boat shy. Some big fish, butdon't catch many. I would reccommend checking out Manitou Lake, big water, not much pressure, big fish, and you can drive to it. I believe Outfitter17 has a resort there. Good Luck.

Scoot,

My Son and I were at Neilson Fly-in Lodge last July. We didn't have great fishing but it never is on this lake during a full moon. Make darn sure you avoid that.

Don has been fishing and guiding on this lake for 25 years and he and Paul (The OTHER Guide)as he is called can't explain it.

The service and the meals are something you'll never forget. My Son who eats about once a day and he's 18 didn't want to be late for any meal no mater if the bite was on or not.

If the muskie arn't doing real good then go for the lakers. These fish are very good and not the grease balls we catch on Mich. or Superior.

Don provides boats on adjoining lakes and a day can be a real adventure. And yes we did see some REALLY big fish. My son had a chance at three quality fish but couldn't connect.

You have to try it at least once. I doubt you would regret it.

We'll be going back!

I know many guys that have gone there and got blanked. Really blanked. Its frustrating not being able to ditch muskies and go fish walleyes when you are in Canada. If you can handle the expense and frustration and a potential for NO fish, ok. Probably have a good time then. I would rather take a 4 day trip to LOW, Leech, or Mille Lacs to chase pig muskies. Save the money and spend it on a canadian lake with big pike, walleyes, etc. Only my opinion.

If you are looking for pig muskie with the other species available Outfitter17 also has a lodge on Pipestone Lake, a remote boat in lake with muskie, walleye, bass, lake trout, & northern. He has a full American plan package with everything included or else he has a outpost cabin listed on his specials page. Good variety of fish & package options. His HSOforum is
