Hey Ralph glad to hear there getting a little bigger. Did you catch that yesterday in the rain? Ishould have come out to play. I will probably get out tonight for a couple hours. Right now im charging the batteries up. Just got the floatable out of storage yesterday. And am changing the fuel line right now. taking a break to check in. Man I have two full tanks of fuel 6 gal. that I dont trust. it hurts to have to dump 12 gals. right now with the cost of fuel. Hey did you check out that Wels Cat url at the end of my last post. it sure would be wild to have some cats like that in the old Mississippi. HAVE YOU FED YOUR KTTY TODAY? grin.gif

thats great PS70 - I have been out twice and I have caught zero catfish, but I guess its good that someone is catching them. I'm probably not getting any because you are getting all of them.

I was out this weekend trying for cats as I was sick of chasing and not find crappies, but I had the same luck with the cats. I tried crawlers, and Powerbait catfish blood and liver balls. I just tried in an area where I had caught some last fall when trying to catch eyes, but I don't know if thats where I shoudl have been. Where are the cats holding up at now? What types of structure?

Pout,

Look for eddies adjacent to the main channel. Drop a night crawler or cut bait (smaller chunks) right in the seem between the fast current and the dead water. I usually cast into the current and let the bait drop untill it lands in the dead water.

Hope this helps.

We tend to move a lot. If we don't get a hit on the crawlers in 5 minutes, move to another eddy. Almost all of the holes have plenty of depth right now. I look for feeding areas close to the eddies. We managed a 7.5 pounder last weekend, I managed to catch a decent 17 incher this past Sunday.... so they are there. Persistence pays.
