1977 MERCURY 50 HP TILLER OUTBOARD MOTOR and EAGLE FLASHER DEPTH FINDER

Recommended Posts

No longer have the boat or trailer and can not find a suitable boat for this motor. It ran great last season. Drained lower unit last fall, no water or any sign of moisture. The power tilt and trim motor went out on it last Spring and have not replaced it yet? The prop is in good condition with some paint flaked off and a couple off very small nicks in a couple of the blades. I have pictures to e-mail. I really don't want to sell it on hsolist and have the mess and hassle of crating and shipping. So I thought I would give at least a few of the Midwesterners first crack at this motor knowing that it would be put to good use and not abuse. You won't find many motors at this age in this good of condition or perform this well. I thought about Asking around $950 and going from there. I seen a few go on hsolist for around $700 to $1200, depending on the age and the condition. Would consider possible delivery if not at least half way up to 200 miles. The Eagle flasher style is a Silent Sixty One that use to run on two six volt baterries but I made very slight modification to the case as to use a Vexilar style 12volt battery(new and include along with the charger) comes with a transducer mounted to a suction cup mount. Asking $50 for flasher

I am assuming this is a long shaft motor. If you check your email I will send you pictures. This motor used to be mounted on an older 16 foot ranger tiller boat

This is a 4-cylinder motor each cylinder checked out at 120 psi. The water pump was replaced two years ago. These are the original carbs. I plan on rebuilding them this spring if I don't sell the motor and I find a boat for it. As far as the price, NO. Try to find a motor this size from 1976 on up to say 1985 for under $900 in this good of running condition. Look on hsolist and you will see what I mean. Better yet, Call up Twin City Outboard and see what they get for a running or even a parts motor. Then look at it the way dealers do, go by a new motor and see what you'll pay for one of those hummdingers. Better have a few grand, which yes it is new but,you spend $950 you'll have a couple of grand in your pocket or you won't be making monthly payments for the next couple of years even when you aren't using the motor. Pics are being sent.

The picture didn't come through. I think either you sent a link to the picture or else my outlook blocked it. Please send picture to [email protected]. I'd still like to see the motor, consider it. The four cyclinder thing is pretty attractive even though I just purchased a new one.

Thanks.

Thanks for the comments. Do you know of anyone looking for an outboard this size or do you know anyone who has just a boat for sale, say a 16-18 foot aluminum v- hull this motor would work great with?

Must be a lot of high rollers on this site as to not see a diamond in the rough this is the last week at $850 then off to hsolist. Last motor I saw on hsolist with this year, hp, and condition went for $1175 with over 25 bids. So this motor at my asking price plus free delivery up to 200 miles is a very good deal. The only thing wrong with this motor is the power tilt-n-trim is out but a good used pump is only $100 plus your labor. I really don't won't the hassle of shipping this motor and would rather sell within driving distance and give me a good reason to head north on a road trip with a fishing detour!!!! Sorry honey the fish were biting..hahahaha

one last week and I hope everyone is looking and getting the pictures I'm sending. This is a really good motor but I just can't find a boat to mount this motor on. My final asking asking price is $750 and you'll have to come pick it up.
