Miles Bay

I was just wondering if anyone has been fishing Miles bay for crappies latly?? Sounds like we are going to give it a try on Saterday... Any reports would be greatly apperciated...

I can't help you out too much, but I will be up there on March 3rd. After you get back, you can email me the gps coordinates of all your hotspots! But seriously, I did hear from BVR that 2 weekends ago one of their groups had excellent results for size and numbers out there after a dismal performance out at Hay the day before. Needless to say we will try to get our crappies out of Miles this time! Good luck on Saturday.

My dad was up there a couple weeks ago with 5 other guys and they caught 92 and the size up there is better than what they have been getting over at Hay island. Not sure exactly where about they were in Miles Bay but I got an idea. Think he said the biggest was 14 inches but the only way to get there is by snowmobile. Hope this helps. We got them and also jumbo's, walleyes, and tulipes all in the same spot...

I think your report was much too brief. We would like to here more details like size, numbers and water depth. I also need your secret gps coordinates emailed to me no later then 10pm wednesday night!

HaHa. Ok we were in about 32 fow. The biggest crappie was 14 1/2 in. I would give you the cords. but my uncle would prob. kill me... If I was you I would just keep moving around til you mark fish and then set up. We were lucky enough to find them right away and didn't even have to move at all. Let me know how you do, think we are going to put together a big group of people and head up there next weekend. Good luck!!

I'm happy to report similar success to what you guys had. I can't believe how many fish we caught! The funnest part for me was never knowing what specie would show up next. Nice perch, crappies, tullibees, walleye and sauger all coming out of the same hole in large quantities. Does it get any better than that?

Its a blast isn't it??? We are heading up there on Thursday for a long weekend. I'm not sure if you kept any of the perch or tullies, but about half of ours had worms... The tullies that didn't we smoked and they turned out great!! Did you guys get into any of slab crappies?

No huge slabs, the biggest was 12.5 inches. We did get a fat 44 inch musky on Crow which was the highlight of the decade! If I could figure out how to get the pic posted here it would be fun to show off.

Hey guy's! It sounds like you had a blast. I am heading up there on the 18th of this month. How much snow is still on the lake? I am planning on bringing snowmobiles, but could bring 4-wheelers if the snow is down. We had the same luck as you guy's last year, multiple species out of the same hole. Has anyone been up to Hay Island lately?

Mad, That doesn't look like a Trout you can't put that in a trout boil . Nice fish I bet that was fun !! But I think you better change your lure and catch those trout , heading up to crow before the rainy get together for a day trip. heard you won't be going to Rainy? you need to call in sick that week.

Actually, that's Mad Mulcher's trusty side-kick who caught the fish. I will take full credit though after getting wet up to the the armpit 3 times to get Junior Samples out of the hole! I tried to tell him that a bucktail spinner bait wouldn't work through the ice, but who knew?

Hemlock, Crab boiled trout, its trout boiled with a seasoning bag with lemon, dipped in butter with old bay seasoning, goes great with perogies You can try some at Rainy if you bring those perogies

It's a deal! I'll bring a bunch of perogies. Boil 'em then fry 'em in butter for a couple minutes.
