Sod Farmer
What differences, if any, would I notice in the lantern when changing the type of fuel from white gas to un-leaded. Would I notice any difference in odor, brightness, burn time, etc.?
bwtrout
I really noticed that gasoline burned dirtier, Smelled worse, and really gummed up the generator. I'd stick to coleman and only use gasoline in a pinch. I think it mentions that in the manual as well?
clamking
I bought a duel fuel lantern last year and ran out of coleman fuel so i used gas and the fumes were terrible even after i switched back it still burned dirty for awhile. this year i bought a coleman with the 1# tank and it burns much cleaner and came with a nice case that doesnt allow it to bang around and ive only had to switch the mantles once this year. and it doesnt put off as much heat so i can hang it from the top bar in my fish trap and dont have to worry about melting the roof. much better way to go. Cliff Wagenbach
If you have a choice, get the propane lantern that operates on 1# tanks. There is very little smell and a 1# tank will easily burn all night.Cliff
Northlander
I agree 100%. I have older lanterns that burn on the white gas but dont use them anymore. Its a pain filling a lantern with gas and getting it on your hands all the time. I prefer the 1 pound tanks. Quicker and easier and you dont have to worry about carrying gas that may leak in your house. Team it up with a FishBright Lantern Reflector and your set for some night time icefishing or bank fishing once it gets warm.
