LX-3 Problems

bassman222

Question

I've had a LX-3 for about three weeks now and really like, but while using it this past weekend it quit showing my lure and the signal and can't get it to work-it just shows the red line at top and still spins. The battery is fully charged, and I checked all connections.

Anyone have similar problems?

Is it something easy to fix myself or should I send it in?

Need more info. What did you have your gain set at? Was the ducer at the bottom of the hole and not leaning along the side of the hole? Did you try a different profile jig? Was the bottom of the ducer clear of ice chips? If you can rule out the above you might have a bad transducer. Email MarCum customer service with a description of the problem.

Same thing happend to my friend's unit. Does your transducer still tick but it is very faint? He sent it in and they told him it was a transformer (I think). They told him his was the first to do that. His quit working after he has had it for a year and a half. He got it back and it works fine.

bassman222-

Do you know anybody else that might have an LX-3 that you could switch transducers with to see if that is the problem?

My LX-3 had a bad transducer. I could still see everthing on the flasher screen, I just had to turn the gain WAAAYY up for it to work right. I called Marcum and had a new transducer in my hand the next day. The flasher works great now.

It would definitely be worth a cal to Marcum's customer service. Great people!

You might have banged up your transducer on the ice or something. Sometimes there are issues with transducers and no product line is going to be completely flawless, some units will have problems, its unavoidable, same goes for all tackle companies, etc. However, I can understand your frustration. My LX-3 is one of the most important pieces of equipment that I take with me on the ice and I want to make sure its always working on all cylinders.

Contact MarCum and they will get things taken care of for you. Like hanson said, they're great people. I had the opportunity to talk a few times with some of the engineers and their knowledge is incredible! They are true die hard fishermen who take their experience in the field and a fisherman's thinking into designing equipment for the modern angler. They know what we demand on the ice or in a boat. They are fishermen who are designing gear for fishermen.

Good Fishin,

Matt Johnson
