Mr Heater finally go some more info on their web page about their recall. Here is a link that will tell you what you need to do to get registered so MR Heater can fix your unit.

Thanks for posting the HSOforum. There are a lot of people that have purchased the Big Buddy from the Gander Mountain where I work. I am going to post the info at work so my customerss are aware of the issue. We strive for customers for life. I wouldn't want to have one injured.

FYI, Mr. Heater is in the process of designing and certifying a new mechanical check valve. This is the valve that currently requires 20psi to open for propane flow. This check valve is something in addition to the control valve recall. They currently do not have these new mechanical check valves available for replacement. So I am waiting to hear if this additional fix will be replaced at no charge when it becomes available or if I should just return my heater and wait for the new production to start up and get one then.

Did you hear about the mechanical check valve from Mr. Heater?

Yes, I have had some e-mail correspondence with one of their employees.

This is the check valve that is preventing 100% use of 1# tanks and also restricts the usage on HI with cold tanks.

Thats what I did grousehuntr, I figured by the time this issue is resolved, ice season will be over or close to it, so I decided I could use the money on other things, and will purchase the unit again next year, providing its testimonials get better
