I've been a Chevy fan for over 40 years but their trucks made after 2000 don't impress me much. They seem to be made a lot cheaper and the body styles look too much like any other truck. If I had the money to buy a new truck I would look into the new Ford 150 or 250. I don't have the money so I'm currently restoring my old 1986 Chevy Silverado 4X4 short bed pickup and hope to have it done by the summer.

Best of luck with whatever you buy...

Rafter,

Thanks for the repy. Do you have the 4 or 5 cyl? I tow a 17 foot deep v and I am concerned about power and such. Also have you had out in snow? Kinda wondering how they work off road and in snow and things, ice fishing ya know cool.gif

If I were looking at one of these I would get the 5 cylinder. You won't loose that much fuel mileage. Also Chevy are a way nicer looking truck than anyother truck on the market just my opinion. I have had great luck with them and I can't image myself running anything else.

I do not own a chevrolet colorado, but do remember a magazine article that I read when they first came out. They were doing some testing in warm weather with the truck and it over-heated several times. It did have the towing package, but didn't seem to help. Also if the payload is the same as the s-10 of old I wouldn't recomend one for pulling a boat and hauling gear. I've tried on an s-10 zr2. Not a good idea.

I was interested in the Colorado too, but found they actually reduced the towing capacity from the s-10, and living in Colorado, you gotta have some power to pull the passes without running at 5ooorpm. We wound up with a Durango, funny thing is there are no colorados on the road in colorado

Max towing capacity per Chevy is 4,000 pounds. Not bad, if you remember it's a small truck. I was looking at one for my son. I liked it, but nothing more than a test drive.

Just a question for ya.Have you ever considered a Toyota Tacoma?I own a 1997 with a 3.4 liter 6cyl. with 190 hp,and a 5000 lb towing capacity,and the 2005's have a 4.0 liter 6cyl. that has 245hp.I also get 17-20 mpg with it,and it's a 4wd extra cab with 31" tires.I have yet to have ANY mechanical failures also and I'm pretty hard on things.I have towed my 16 ft boat,8x16 fishhouse,and a whole lot of firewood with it,and 'am very pleased with it's performance.Just my opinion!
