Sir Fish Alot
I heard that they were catching some out of Antero before they had to drain it.
RockyMtnIce
Must of moved some over. Hope they do not become a problem. Pike will go after those soft skinned trout over the tough perch.
zman7
I remember when I moved here twenty years from Minnesota that I was surprised that Eleven Mile had scattered perch in the lake even back then...I think the large trout and pike have down a very good job of keeping them in check...I've never caught one there but I have talked to other people that have... John19
I drank beer, shot pool, and watched football. Man I'm glad I didn't drive 5 hours for a couple of fish this weekend ! What's up Dan? only 3 fish, you've got a tourney to win!!!! remember boys, It only takes 1 bite. That next one could be the big one . I don't know about you guys, but is all this warm weather, bumming you out too????? 60 degrees in January just isn't right! Good luck to all next week @ Granby!!!! Chewy
Yes, I caught a perch through the ice at 11-Mile about three years ago. I caught the perch near the main boat ramp on the North end of the lake. I couldn't believe it. I showed the guy's I was fishing with that day and they were just as amazed. I tried to catch more that day and was unsuccessful. I spoke to the Park Rangers and they said somebody illegally planted the fish some years ago. The same situation happened at Blue Mesa as well. Eastern fishermen coming out west and wanting the species they fished for back home in our trout waters. They don't realize the havic this can cause to a fairly fragile trout and salmon ecosystem. The perch in Blue Mesa are now feeding on small Kokanee fry. Our problem with low salmon fry numbers are even effected more than normal.
HonestDave
Fished 11 Mile last Tues & Wed. It was slow but we marked fish all day both days. Caught a few but none over 18". Were fishing Lazy Boy and we saw a few guys fishing. I think the fish were full and not hungry.Dave
ICEMASTER1940
Fished 11-mile today. I didn't get skunked, if you count the perch that I caught. I wish I hadn't. I have nothing against perch, but I just wish that people would leave the stocking of fish to the DOW. I know the DOW makes mistakes too, but who in their right mind would add another predator to a body of water that already has one (Northern's). The day was nice otherwise, a little snow but no wind. I saw a female Golden Eagle and a herd of about 150 Antelope between 11-Mile and Hartsel. For those of you who want details on the location, depth and lure that I used to catch the Perch: Witcher's Cove Camp Ground, 16 foot of water using a #12 Pink Rat Finkee baited with a Waxworm. In the future, when I feel decent about my ice fishing ability I will just return to 11-Mile to be humbled, yet again. <'((<
