Thanks for the info. I was out on tuesday. Never hooked one. But I seen something on the vex at 5' down in 18' of water. Looked down the hole and there was a nice trout. He cruised by the hole four times or there were was more than one of them. The lake I was on was vary clear. I could see my jig about 12' down! now if I could just catch one.

That gets the heart pumping everytime that happens.

When the trout are in close like that and your using waxies try to make the waxies jump around while not moving the lure much. That often turn lookers into biters.

Went out trout fishing for the first time this year, man, we got whipped by that wind! We tried a couple of spots on Ceniko lake up @ Coon Rapids Dam, but the wind was just to fierce.

We usually hole hop and are able to get onto the trout using that method, but yesterday we could'nt do that, we had to pick a spot and sit on it and after a couple of hours of sitting at 2 different spots, with nary a bite, we did what the other folks did...folded our tent and hit the trail! Maybe we will get after them again tommarrow?

hey grebe i was on cenaiko for the opener fishing was good for the first couple of hours then nothing.then thought i would be smart and get there early sunday and try to repeat, but only got 1 brookie. kind of dissapointing maybe they didnt put in so many or the weather was keeping them tight lipped.i think i'll try again this weekend.

BJ1....Was there a million people there on the opener? There were alot of frozen over holes, but I don't think, from the looks of things, that there were as many people there as last year? What we seen was 3 days worth of holes and I think they did that many and more on the first day last season?

I'm sure that if we would have been able to run and gun, we could have got into them, we always have, I don't see why this year would be any different? Weather permitting, we'll hit it again a time or two and see what happens.

hi grebe last year was my first time out for the trout.kind of a new experience to figure out those little buggers.this year i got there at 4:21am and was fith in line.i was third onto the ice and i walked by some holes that were already froze over.

i still have alot of learning to do to catch them.maybe we can hook up some time out there.i dont know why but i can sit there for hours without a bite, but you just keep thinking the big one is next.i'm going to try for sunday.

bj1...sure, maybe the first part of next week? We have a ton of projects we are working on and we do snow removal in the winter, so I'm hoping to be tied up over the week-end.

If all goes well, I will drop a post here Sunday night and we'll see what the deal is....I'm an 11th hour fisherman as far as planning goes...has to do with our weird weather.

I'm heading out there Friday about 11am, if possible. I talked to one of the guys at Vados about Cenaiko and he said on opener there was only about 150 people compared to what he estimates to be closer to 400-500.

He said his best biting time started about 3pm. But I'm gonna try it and see what happens starting at about 11am. Definitely going to make it out there Friday, just not sure what time.

bj1....I'm going to have to pass on any fishing. This snow storm kicked our butts and it is going to be a couple days before the muscles start working right again.

When they do, I have some equipment that I have to fix in preparation for our next round of snow, whenever that may be? Business first, then fishing.

Grebe, I was out for about 2 hrs. Decided to leave when I had trouble seeing out the window of my Scout. No bites. Then again it was my first trout outting. Just wish I could get out more and had a larger shack that I could stand up and stretch in.

bj1 and lost...thanks for getting back to me! I'm still to sore to do any fishing, maybe tommarrow? It's supposed to be nice all week.

You know, if those trout did'nt get hammered on opener and the two fishing days after, and they hav'nt been getting jumped on since (Weather restrictions, cold, wind, snow) that means they are still there! "Dos is goot, ya?"

Maybe really early, after a couple days of stable weather, maybe in the afternoon? If they are there, and it seems as if they are, they will bite at some point, they always do, I don't see why this season would be any different?

The DNR sometimes splits the stocking on the little lake, or at least they have on occassion in the past?

If I hit the pond and do anything, I will for sure let you boys know...might even bump into you out there, just watch for the sunlight reflecting off my forehead, kinda like a mirror, can't miss it! grin.gif
