fishtank
Front Page of the Metro Today. ***** Stolen House off of Clear Lake in Waseca County on Wednesday (1/5). It's a long shot, but with everyone on this board, we can all keep our eyes and ears open. From the paper it's listed as 6X12 King Crow 2 wheeled - White exterior with 2 blue stripes and 2 20lb propane tanks mounted on the front near the hitch. If anybody has any info, contact the Waseca County Sherrif's office. It's just too bad this sort of thing has to take place on any lake, not to mention all of the break-in's that occur during this time of year. spasticcp
Yeah, people that participate in this sort of theft, or vandalism are just pathetic. They'll never amount to anything or own anything themselves, so they have to steal what others have actually worked to obtain. I'd love to catch people in the act just once and shake them like a British nanny.
efgh
Thats going to be a hard one to spot, King Crow, blue and white, how many of that color did they make? maybe it will be found in a grove or around some abanded building site, keep your eyes open, guys for a b&w where it should not be. It takes all kinds of people to make up this world, this kind we can do without. Just a Question, how would a person safe guard against theft out side of taking the wheels off. Iceseeker
I think one of the easiest and least expensive ways is to put on tongue lock. This is good idea anyways as it is a deterent as well as making it more difficult..

SteveWilson
If your house is on the ice (i.e. not blocked up) then you screw long lag bolts into the ice from the floor or screw a large eye into a piece of 2x6, attach some chain to the eye, lowere the 2x6 through a fishing hole in the house, pull up the 2x6 so it locks under the ice, and then tighten the chain to another 2x6 in the house. That way you have the house anchored to the ice and the thief would have to rip up a bunch of ice along with the ice house.
klbowe
The best way to avoid theft would be to take a chain saw and cut a BIG square in front of the house then pour salt around where the saw cut. The ice would float until the SOB's pickup backed up to the house. Is that too good for them ?
Northlander
If they want it bad enough they will get it no matter what. This is probably now being used as a meth house on another lake or in the woods. After quickly being painted of course. Good thing is Meth heads arent too smart and they will get caught sooner or later. Sad thing is that all the dump they use to make the junk is deadly and usually dumped in the woods or water. If you see guys who dont really look like fisherman and the windows are darked out and it smells funny and they go threw a lot of propane call the DNR and have them make them a visit. Easist deterant is the hitch lock as stated. Next I wouldnt leave a semi portable out without a lock on the tongue for very long. If you try to lock it to the ice they will just destroy it. Better off having it stole and hoping your insurance covers it then try to rebuild it from floor up.I sure hope whoever lost this house gets it back in working order. Wally Dube
Cant say I've ever seen a white King Crow or any lighter color from them...My co-worker has a removable tongue on his and its impossible to hook on to it or winch the front up with it dropped to the ice... works real slick but 95% of the time it stays hooked to the truck with the drop-tongue and goes with him when he does !! Hexum
That's really too bad that people break in / steal houses. I would go nuts if my house was stolen, after all the time/money I put into it. I hope they get caught and get a severe penalty.
klbowe
Not reported in the Star Trib story was that the the lady who owned the house bought it because she could not afford both a camper and a fish house.I heard she bought the fish house so she could take home bound and elderly people out for a day on the lake and use the fish house as a camper in the summer. river-rat4
A tongue lock is a deterant and keeps all but the determined away. I had a trailer at a job site in Lino Lakes/Blaine. I had a "gorilla" tongue lock on it. Found the lock shattered on the ground.(It appeared to be real cheap "pot" metal or cloudy cast, covered nicely in chrome) My bet is a good whack with a sledge hammer and it was off. Also had a 5/8" aircraft cable around the axel and steel spoke wheel, that was never found. Police found the trailer on Olive street in St. Paul- hollowed out. I am sure glad I was raised to respect others and their property(or previously my property)To bad for that poor woman, just trying to help out others and the less fortunate, this stuff always happens to the good people.Keep your chin up and an eye out!- RR4
MLaker2
Stolen fish houses are not that uncommon. A friend of mine had his taken off a lake N of Alexandria, I had one stolen off the lot I parked it on over a Thanksgiving weekend a few years back. I actually came out pretty good since I had "replacement cost" on my home insurance and ended up w/ a better house and better gear even though it was a headache. psegriz
Hope they get the culprit. They should take and throw his butt in some pricklypear cactus even if they have to DRAG it to New Mexico to do it. I'd help.
