Eskimo Quick Flip II

You get a pretty good bang for your buck. However, if you are a serious ice fisherman who does lots of travel behind the sled or wheeler, this is NOT the house for you. The canvas is actually pretty good and well thought out as far as design goes. The sled leaves a little to be desired, it is thin and very flexible. Put runners on the sled or you will have a hole in it in no time. This house is perfect for the ice fisherman who will drag the house across the lake and is mobile. However, it is a cheaper system so make sure your expectations are not way up there. For the price, its really a pretty good house. Good luck!

I've talked to 3 different guys that bought hyfax strips from me for their QFII's. All of them had nothing but good things to say for this economically priced house. Sure the sled is a little thin but if you take care of it, it will take care of you. In fact, if I hadn't run into a really good end of season deal on an Otter Cabin last Spring, the QFII would have been my second house for when I fish by myself.

It's going to be your house so make sure you do your homework on all of them out there.

I just picked up a QFIII this year and have used it 4 times. I really like mine. I like the fact that it has a bench in it and a 5 gallon bucket fits under the bench. I have lots of room for all of my gear in the sled and the sled that is with this one seems solid. Let me know if you have any other questions, I may be able to help.

FYI - When you install the bench seat there are 4 heights to choose from. I too like the fact that my buckets fit under the seat but they didn't until I moved the seat to one of the 2 highest settings.

One more tip is to file the burs on the inside end of the piipes that slide together and then lube them with Frabill sub-zero lube or equivalent for best performance.

I also really like the unit and features but have already cracked a window frown.gif so make sure you collapse the windows flat!

My son just bought one and the only complaint I have is the bench seat is a little hard when sitting on it for hours. A little more cushion would be nice.

does anyone have one with out the bench seat. Im thinking of not getting the seat and just use a folding chair. THat way there is more room for gear and its not so heavy.

I've got a Quickflip III without the bench seat and just use a folding chair. I think it's way more comfy than a bench any day, not to mention it's 50 lbs lighter and costs $75 less without the bench seat. Plenty of room for all kinds of gear, but if you're planning on pulling it by hand it gets heavy with all your gear in it, and the tub isn't sloped at all so it's tough going in the snow.

Actually, if I remember correctly, it was mostly made of aluminum and was very light. Overall, it does not add much weight. I thought the bench seat was great, but thats just me!

bought a QFll last season. Used it the whole year and this year. Love it! I have the bench in it. Mixed feelings with the bench. It does add some weight. But on breezy days the weight helps hold it down. I modified the backrest so it doesn't lay back so far. I find myself when fishing wanting to lean forward a little. So I drilled and tapped holes on the frame of the bench and put a bolt with a lock nut on it to adjust for the back rest angle as a stop. I have it a little more straight up than how it comes. As far as quality. I think the fish trap has such a big name that everyone thinks it's the best. I don't think that the guide has anything on the QFll. I am seeing alot more Eskimos out on the ice this year. People are catching on to the quality and great price.

I looked at the Fishtrap Yukon, the Polar, and the Otter series at the iceshow and ended up with the QF 3 with the bench seat, and so far it's been great!Alot more room for alot less money!I can fish 2 people easily,(3 very friendly)!I still would like to see the Otter Wilderness series, and pricing, but the show only had one with no pricing? You can easily stand up in the QF 3,which is really nice to stretch out after a long day on the ice,and alot of room for gear in the sled! grin.gif

with all of the posts on this topic it looks like the eskimo QFII is the way to go. I m going to get the express model and I can build my own type of seat if a folding chair is too much hassel. Any body have build their own seat in any kind of house. I think I might do something like a fish trap seat.some type of folding seat the slides on pipes. THey want like 100 bucks for it. I wouldn't think it would cost more than 50 to make my own.

I've got the QFII, too. Price is right for the room you get. The stitching is quality, as is the fabric and windows. I assembled it in about 30 minutes including the bench. The sled certainly needs hyfax if you are going to tow it. I like the bench seat, myself. What I like the most about the seat is the seat mounting system - no bars going from side to side on the sled, the seat back folds down completely flat, and the bench is height adjustable when you install it. Even a Strikemaster Mag 3000 fits under the seat with room to get all the gear in the sled with it, too. I can also say that it works in rain and sleet pretty good - the fabric got a little wet, but didn't drip through last week. It dried out quickly.
